Adult Education

The mission of the AAACE is to provide leadership for the field of adult and continuing education by expanding opportunities for adult growth and development; unifying adult educators; fostering the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices; promoting identity and standards for the profession; and advocating relevant public policy and social change initiatives.

ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) is the world’s largest association dedicated to workplace learning and performance professionals. Members work in thousands of organizations of all sizes, in government, as independent consultants, and suppliers.

The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) is a national non-profit organization which creates and manages effective learning strategies for working adults through partnerships with employers, higher education, the public sector,and labor.

The National Certified Counselor (NCC) shows colleagues and the public that you have voluntarily met national standards for the general practice of counseling. NBCC also offers three specialty certifications.

The National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy (NCSALL) is a federally funded research and development center focused solely on adult learning. NCSALL's efforts are dedicated to improving practice in educational programs that serve adults with limited literacy and English language skills, and those without a high school diploma.
