The Bookmark is the library's newsletter.

This is a sampling of the extensive FAQs that the library has available for searching on our Help page.

For current information, search the FAQs!

Item handling

Q. [During COVID] How is the library safely handling incoming and outgoing items?

A.Library staff are using gloves to pull items, and all returned items will be disinfected, or quarantined for one week, between use.

Curbside Pickup, as well as UC pickup options are available to limit contact -- these options can be used without entering the library itself. Staff will wear gloves when handing off items.

You can place holds through the library catalog, and staff will contact you to coordinate check-out/pick-up option.

Printing

Q. [During COVID] I just need to print, how can I do that?

A. You can submit documents for the library to print for you, then come pick them up from our 3rd Floor screening desk without even coming into the library! You can also request a curbside pickup for your printed documents. (Please wear a mask when interacting with the library staff member who is providing you curbside service.)

Make a printing appointment to submit your print request. You will be notified via email as soon as your print is ready to pick up.

You cannot print from a personal or university laptops unless you have installed the Horizon Client (instructions in files), but can schedule a print job if your are not a student or do not have the client installed.

The cost of your printing will be taken out of your printing account if funds are available. If your account does not have enough to cover the print request, you will need to remit payment online. For more information about this account, see our FAQ for printing in the library.

Computer Lab

Q. [During COVID] Can I use the computer lab?

Yes! Reserve a spot ahead of time to help us ensure safety.

You will check in at our 3rd Floor service desk, and a library staff member will escort you to your reserved space. Desks and chairs have been moved to maintain safe distancing.

The library is carefully managing use of our spaces, as well as cleaning and sanitizing used spaces after students exit the library. Please maintain social distancing and wearing a mask while in the library.

There is no food or drink allowed in the computer lab.

Getting items

Q. [During COVID] How do I get a book?

Our book stacks are currently closed to browsing, but you can browse virtually! See our FAQ for virtual browsing for more details.

If an eBook is not available for the resource you need in WorldCat Discovery, then select the book title link and use the Place Hold button in the item details to request the book.  When books are ready you will be contacted by email.

To pick up your book, you can either just come to the library during our open hours and let us know you have a hold to pick up, or use the curbside pickup form, one of our appointment options.

Curbside pickup is located in the north parking lot, in a spot indicated with a yellow "Library Pickup" sign. Please wear a mask when interacting with the library staff member who is providing you curbside service. In the map below, the curbside pickup area is marked with a green star.

Returns

Q. [During COVID] How do I return items?

A. There are 2 main ways to return items:

  • Request curbside service and a library staff member will meet you at your car. (Please wear a mask when interacting with the library staff member who is providing you curbside service.)
  • Bring the items to the 3rd Floor in the UC building and leave them in our book drop, or with the 3rd Floor screening desk.

If neither of these options will suit your needs, please contact the library for assistance at LibraryHelp@tamut.edu.
