Librarians Moving On

Two of the John F. Moss Library’s senior librarians retired in Spring 2021.

Ginger Mann

She got her Master’s in Library science in 1999 and took over as Cataloging and Technical Services Librarian in 2009, after the previous librarian retired. She has worked at the library through 3 different cataloging systems, oversaw the shipment of thousands of books to our Joint Library Facility, and cleaned up thousands of catalog records when the coding standards updated to RDA.  In 2021, she was promoted to Assistant Director.

Ginger was known around the library as a dedicated worker, very detail oriented, and devoted to her Christian faith.

Ginger has kept our print collection organized for many years, and she loved the challenge of making sure the online catalog reflected our holdings as accurately as possible. She will be missed!

Neisha Federick

An older black woman with sunglasses on her head and braids, holding up an apron

Neisha Federick started at the library in 1997 as a student assistant, while she got her undergraduate degree. She went on to become a reference assistant full-time in 1999. She got a Master’s in Business Management in 2009, and then her Master’s in Library Science, and in 2012 she became a Reference Librarian.

Neisha was known around the library as being caring and loving, fun to talk to, honest and direct, and always having a needle and thread if someone had a wardrobe malfunction.

Neisha has taught many classes and has given many library tours in her career. She was the go-to person in the library for books or articles we didn’t have -- she could track them down and get Interlibrary Loans for faculty, staff, and students.
She will be missed!

Both assisted with the giant move from the South campus....as Ginger wrote in her resignation letter...”It was a great adventure to plan for an execute the move to the new campus.”

Librarian II Kendra Harrell started at the John F. Moss Library in 2014 as a cataloging clerk, then moved up to Acquisitions Assistant, and then Librarian II in 2018 when she got her Masters in Library Science. Kendra accepted a position as Library Director at the Atlanta, TX Public Library in July, and her last day was August 20th.

From Kendra: “It has been wonderful building my career at the university, and I am so grateful for the experience and relationships I have gained here. Many thanks to Teri Stover for her mentorship. I will miss my library, but I’m excited to take on this new challenge!”
